Cops on Top: NHCSO & WFD raise money for Special Olympics

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Members of the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and the Wilmington Fire Department will host a three-day fundraiser to raise money to help Special Olympics North Carolina.

They will be stationed on top of the roof of the Chick-fil-A restaurant on Oleander Drive Friday and Saturday to encourage customers to donate to the Special Olympics. Uniformed deputies stationed around the restaurant will be accepting the donations. Customers can also participate in a silent auction.

The Wilmington Fire Department has a variety of events planned during the fundraiser, including a cow drop and fire truck tours.

“We are honored to support our New Hanover County law enforcement officers and our Wilmington Firefighters in their effort to raise money for them,” said restaurant operator Mike Perdue in a press release.
