Press Release from UNCW

WILMINGTON, NC - UNCW took advantage of a pair of St. Joseph errors in the eighth inning to break a 2-all tie and win 4-2 in college baseball action on Tuesday at Brooks Field.

The Seahawks have now won their last two and six of their last seven to improve to 7-5 on the season. The Hawks, meanwhile, saw their record dip to 5-7 with the road loss.

In the eighth, senior David Shambley drew a leadoff walk off reliever Ryan Kemp (0-1) and moved around to third when pinch hitter Ryan LaGrange's sacrifice bunt was thrown away, putting runners at second and third. Junior Thomas Pope followed with a sacrifice fly to center to score Shambley with the go-ahead run. Kemp retired the next two batters, but a fielding error on a ground ball hit by sophomore Michael Bass allowed LaGrange to score the second and final run of the inning.
