WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Hoggard Vikings girls' soccer team's quest for the programs first state championship ended Wednesday night. The Vikings fell to Green Hope, 3-0, in the 4A East finals at Hoggard Stadium.
"We really left it out on the field," said Hoggard coach Justin Schatz. "We have a couple of mistakes, and good teams make you pay for mistakes."
The loss ends the Vikings season at 19-2-2.
Green Hope, who came into the game ranked as the number one team in the country, had been scored on just once in the playoffs. With the victory, the Falcons improved to 25-0 and will play Hough on Saturday at N.C. State's Dail Field.
