Students gathered Thursday demanding Duke Energy to provide renewable energy options.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Students at UNCW gathered Thursday demanding Duke Energy to provide 100% clean renewable energy options.

According to the event organizer, students are urging UNC system President, Thomas Ross, to meet with Duke Energy officials, because they want UNC system to drop Duke Energy as a provider because of coal energy.

Students say renewable is the only way to go.

As a demonstration, students traced mock crime scenes of their bodies to signify the harm from Duke Energy's unsustainable energy practices.
