Men issued citations for drug possession after WFD extinguishes smoke, flames at house fire

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Two men were cited afer crews with the Wilmington Fire Department were able to put out a fire at a home on Bagley Drive Tuesday afternoon.

According to Chief David Hines, crews arrived to the home around 1:45 p.m. and saw smoke and flames showing.

Hines said the fire began from an improperly discarded cigarette on the back deck and moved up the siding into the attic.

No one was hurt during the fire. A pet ferret was missing, but was later found alive.

After the fire was out, firefighters inside discovered what looked like marijuana and drug-related paraphernalia. As a result, police were called back to the scene to investigate and ended up citing the two renters with simple possession of marijuna and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tyler Joseph Fisher, 19, and Aaron Odell Jones, 20, were cited and released.
