WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Firefighters have moved back into the newly re-opened Empie Park Fire Station. According to the City of Wilmington, the $2 million project finished on schedule and within budget.
The project began in August 2011 to replace the old fire station which had to be demolished due to mold.
Crews added 880 square-feet to the station to better accommodate today's larger fire equipment and is similar in design to the Seagate Fire Station #10.
Wilmington will hold an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for the fire station Saturday, August 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
