Lady Seahawks land JUCO recruit | News

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Newly appointed UNCW women's basketball coach Adell Harris has landed her first junior college recruit.

Kelva Atkins, a 5'5" guard out of Columbia State Community College has committed to play for the Seahawks beginning in the 2012-13 season.

Atkins averaged 20.6 points per game to rank fourth nationally and was named the National Junior College Player of the Week on November 13, 2011. She also averaged 4.7 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game at CSCC.

The Stem, NC native scored over 2,000 points for Granville High where she was a three-time All-State player and was also all-conference in volleyball and softball.
