WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Fanboy Comics will be hosting a celebration for the release of the 100th issue of The Walking Dead comic book series Friday, July 13, according to a press release.
Special guests will be at the event, including actress Jane McNeill, a Columbus County native who plays the character Patricia on AMC's version of the hit TV show inspired by the comics. Poster artist Danny Miller will also be present, along with comic artist Brandon Blanks.
"Brandon Blanks is a local artist who has put together a Wilmington-set comic-- this event will be a chance to get your hands on it before it's worth thousands," said Fanboy Comics owner, Thomas Gilbert.
The event will host a zombie/Walking Dead costume contest, a zombie talent show, zombie games and drawings that include money prizes.
The first 48 people in line at the event will receive a zombie gift bag, including a Zombie Blood energy drink and Fanboys vs. Zombies comic issue #1. Five bags at random will hold chromium 100th issue Walking Dead comics.
Additionally, there will be discounts on zombie comics and merchandise at the store.
The 100th issue of The Walking Dead will go on sale Wednesday, July 11, and it will feature different art covers by artists including Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri and Frank Quitely.
A life-size zombie bust, created by special effects makeup artist Greg Nicotero for The Walking Dead TV series, will be on display for fans to pose with.
The following is the schedule of events that will take place at the release party:
