GREENVILLE, NC (WECT) - Former UNCW women's head basketball coach Ann Hancock is returning to the first chair.
This time at her alma mater.
Hancock will take over as head coach at Wingate where she was team captain for three years before graduating in 1992.
An official announcement is expected Tuesday.
Hancock has been an assistant coach at East Carolina for the past two seasons after her contract wasn't renewed at UNCW which was her first head coaching job. The Elizabethtown native left UNCW as the program leader in wins and was also the first in program history to win the CAA Coach of the year award.
Barbara Nelson resigned Friday after leading the Bulldogs to the postseason in three of her five seasons.
