UNCW Press Release

RALEIGH, North Carolina – NC State struck for 10 runs in the eighth inning to back the stellar relief work of Ethan Ogburn in topping visiting UNCW, 10-0, in college baseball action on Tuesday at Doak Field.

The Wolfpack improved to 3-1 with the home win while the Seahawks saw their record even out at 2-2. The setback halted a two-game winning streak for the Seahawks at Doak Field.

In the eighth inning, the Wolfpack sent 16 batters to the plate in the inning and roughing up four Seahawk relievers for 10 runs on seven hits, two Seahawk errors helped extend the inning.

Ogburn (1-0) struck out six in four perfect innings of relief.

Andrew Ciencin paced the NCSU lineup with three hits and knocked in three runs all during that deciding eighth inning. Trea Turner, Chris Diaz and Danny Canela all added two hits apiece.

UNCW starter Tyler McSwain held the Wolfpack in check over the first seven innings, allowing no runs on four hits and two walks. He finished with two strikeouts.

Matt Campbell collected two hits for the Seahawks, whose last hit and base runner came in the fifth inning.

The Seahawks continue their road swing this weekend at Mississippi beginning on Friday at 4 p.m. EST.
