WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A movie filmed in the Port City will hit the silver screen Friday across the country.
Piranha 3DD was filmed at Jungle Rapids off Oleander Drive in Wilmington.
According to Fandango, the movie is a tongue-in-cheek horror movie about a pre-historic school of blood-thirsty piranhas making their way into a newly opened water park.
Directed by John Gulager, the film stars David Hasselhoff, Gary Busey and Christopher Lloyd.
Piranha 3DD reportedly cost $24 million to make, but reeled in more than $83 million worldwide, according to the Associated Press.
The movie is now available in theaters across the country, though it does not appear it will be shown on theaters in Wilmington. Don't worry - you can also catch the film On Demand.
