United Way gets money to help stop eviction for renters

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The state of North Carolina has awarded the United Way of the Cape Fear Area with $50,000 for its Homelessness Prevention/Rapid Re-housing initiative.

The money will be used this Summer to help keep up to thirty more households from facing an eviction on rental property.  The money has to be spent by the end of August.

UWCFA will work with Good Shepherd Ministries to identify those eligible for the money during this period.

According to UWCFA organizers, the organizations got the money because the project "tremendous efficiencies during implementation and had been one of the most productive in terms of households served in the state.”
