WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Attending college near the beach has its perks for many students, one of which is the upcoming annual Beach Blast hosted by the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
The event will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the Wrightsville Beach Crystal Pier, which is near the Oceanic Restaurant, according to the school's website.
UNCW students in attendance can take advantage of free music and food, contests and other planned activities.
To ease parking congestion, UNCW will be running shuttles to and from the beach and is encouraging on- and off-campus students to utilize this transportation. They will depart from Lot FF (next to Wagoner Hall) from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The last shuttle to bring students back to UNCW will leave the beach at 3:30 p.m. sharp.
Students will be required to present a UNCW student ID card to board shuttles and receive a wristband, which will be required to participate in any of the activities or vendor giveaways at Beach Blast.
Beach Blast is an alcohol-free event, and campus officials have notified all students that alcohol is not permitted.
Sunscreen and bottled water are recommended.
