WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Many know that feeling, when you're walking to the car at night and it seems as if someone is watching you. This might be a time when you wished you knew how to defend yourself if an attacker were to approach you.
The Wilmington Police Department wants you to be prepared, so they're starting a self-defense course for women.
Patrick Sawhill, a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo, will be teaching the course and he said the goal is to show students how to disarm an attacker and how to show them you're not an easy target.
Details on the first class are as follows:
Tuesday, July 9, 2013
Martin Luther King Center, 401 S. 8th Street Wilmington, NC. 28401
To register call the Community Resource Coordinator's office at (910) 341-4608.
Must be 18 or older to attend.
