Register now to shoot hoops with police

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Wilmington Police Department's Police Athletic League (P.A.L.) is looking for some kids who want to dribble, shoot and score.

The league is accepting registrations now for the upcoming basketball season for 8 - 10 year olds.

P.A.L. is beginning its sixth season as a community resource to fight gang activity. In an effort to reach kids city-wide, the program has expanded this year to operate out of both the Community Boys & Girls Club and the Brigade Boys & Girls Club.

Currently, there are fewer than 40 spots left at each facility, so boys and girls who want to play basketball need to register now. Registration forms and season schedules are available at both area Boys & Girls Clubs. A $10 fee due at the time of registration will cover awards and jerseys.

Practices begin October 24 and regular season games begin on November 3.
