WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Wave Transit is offering a shuttle service for the 2013 Azalea Festival Parade in an effort to ease parking concerns, according to a news release.
Saturday, express shuttles will run for the duration of the parade from 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. They will transport people who park at Independence Mall to the intersection of Second and Dock Streets.
The shuttles will operate on 10-minute intervals throughout the day, with the last shuttle leaving downtown Wilmington at 1:30 p.m. Festival-goers who wish to stay downtown after that time can use their express shuttle tickets to take a Wave Transit bus for a ride back to the mall.
Anyone who wants to take advantage of the service can park at the mall lot behind Firehouse Subs and Wells Fargo.
There is a $2 charge per person each way to ride the bus to the parade. Children under 5 can ride for free with a paying adult.
