NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Middle school students from several area middle schools will soon be putting their math skills to the test at the county school district’s annual MATHCOUNTS® Competition.
Students from Holly Shelter, Murray, Myrtle Grove, Noble, Roland-Grise, Trask, and Williston middle schools will compete in exercises Friday, Jan. 11 involving algebra, geometry, word problems and other mathematical concepts, according to a school system spokesperson.
The competition will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the New Hanover County Board of Education Center.
Following the local competition will be the regional MATHCOUNTS® Competition, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16 at Cape Fear Community College’s North Campus.
