Church allows folks to enjoy free Thanksgiving lunch
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - One area church is making sure everyone will be able to eat some turkey this Thanksgiving.
The Word Changing Hearts Ministry hosted its 11th annual free Thanksgiving lunch.
The menu included eight turkeys, 20 pounds of mashed potatoes and 40 pounds of string beans.
Organizers say there is a large need in the local community, and it's important for people to help out their neighbors.
“We are all individually responsible for our neighbors,” said Pastor Darwin Murrill. “It’s important that we do what we can, and that's how we save our community.”
In past years, 100 to 200 people have gone to the free lunch.
