WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The annual Wilmington Arthritis Walk will take place on Saturday at Hugh MacRae Park, where the legacy of local artist Ivey Hayes will be honored and remembered, according to a news release.
Hayes won numerous awards for his brightly-colored paintings. According to his website, Hayes' work has been exhibited throughout the state, Washington, D.C., Boston and New York among other galleries. Hayes, who died in September, suffered from rheumatoid arthritis.
The walk, which raises money for the Arthritis Foundation, will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and WECT’s John Smist will be the event’s emcee.
There will be a raffle and free chair massages.
Leashed dogs are welcome to participate in the walk.
