Learn more about the new stretch of the Cross-City Trail | Community Spirit

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – There will be a public meeting next Thursday, Oct. 4 evening to discuss the section of the Cross-City Trail that will stretch from John D. Barry Drive on S.17th Street to Wade Park which is located off of Waltmoor Road.

Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting between 5-6 p.m. to learn more about the project and answer questions. A formal presentation will begin at 6 p.m. and include a summary of the input received from the meeting in August.

According to a press release, the City of Wilmington received $525,000 from BlueCross BlueShield NC to help fund the construction for this section. The City is also working with the NCDOT to secure the rest of the money to build the improvements.

When finished, the Cross-City Trail will be 15 miles long and will run from Wade Park to the Heide-Trask Drawbridge at the Intracoastal Waterway.
