NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office launched a Facebook page showing off many of the animals that are up for adoption.
According to Sgt. J.J. Brewer, the sheriff’s office created the page last week and it is being maintained by a volunteer who is taking pictures of the animals and posting updates.
Brewer said the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office got some of their inspiration for the page after seeing Brunswick County’s animal adoption Facebook page. Although animal services is part of the sheriff’s office, Brewer said it’s the only part of the sheriff’s office where they have to market something to people. Since many people are on Facebook these days, it’s a way for them to reach as many people as possible.
“Facebook is a great way of networking,” Brewer said.
Right now, the Facebook page has a little more than 160 “likes.” Brunswick County’s, which has been around for about a month, has more than 1,300 likes.
