WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – UNCW's annual Clothesline Campaign and fundraiser begins Wednesday, Oct. 19 in order to recognize and prevent relationship violence during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Throughout the month of October, UNCW's Collaboration for Asault Response and Education (CARE) office, will be educating the campus about how bystanders can help prevent domestic violence. The Clothesline Campaign and Make Your Own T-shirt event are ways to teach the public.

A clothesline on campus, displayed in front of Randall Library, will feature T-shirts decorated by victims of domestic violence with messages of support, according to a news release from the school. The clothesline represents the communities of women who once shared stories while hanging laundry on backyard clotheslines.

It will be on display from Oct. 19 through 26 and students have a chance to make their own on Monday, Oct. 24. Seahawks can participate from 6 until 8:30 p.m. in the Azalea Coast Room inside the Fisher University Union or from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Seahawk Crossing building #3.
