UNCW hosts annual Midnite Madness Friday | Community Spirit

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - UNCW’s annual Midnite Madness event will be held at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14 in the newly remodeled Trask Coliseum, offering Seahawk fans their chance to see the school’s 2011-12 men’s and women’s basketball teams play their first practice games of the seasons.

Festivities will begin at 8 p.m. with the annual Trask Trek. There, Sammy the Seahawk will lead spirited players, coaches and students alike in a parade across campus in support of the teams.

Everyone will meet at the Seahawk Village Clubhouse, and participants can pick up free gifts and prizes at stations along the way.

Before finally proceeding to Trask Coliseum, the Trek will stop at the Hoggard Lawn for the coaches’ opening speeches.

The event will also include will include team introductions, dance performances, music, a mascot challenge, cheerleading performances, the UNCW drum line, 3-point shootout, a dunking contest and other surprises.
