WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Children at Calvary Christian School in Wilmington spent part of their day remembering those who died 11 years ago in the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Students sang patriotic songs and waved flags at passing vehicles. Many cars that drove by sounded their horns to show their support.
Calvary’s senior pastor, Donnie Lovette, said most of the children were born after the attacks. So he said it’s necessary to tell them why it’s important to pause and reflect on this day.
"Our children, they were not there, but they can hear from us,” he said. “If we don't remind our children about our heritage and about what happens in America, they will never know and pass it on and this was an important date in American history."
