WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – If you drive an eco-friendly electric vehicle, you now have one more place in Wilmington to charge its battery while grocery shopping.
Workers with Progress Energy Carolinas recently installed two plug-in electric vehicle charging stations at Tidal Creek Cooperative Food Market, according to a news release from the store’s general manager.
The stations are that of a level 2, meaning that they use a 240-volt circuit rather than a 120-volt home outlet. The level 2 status means that that the stations can charge plug-in electric vehicle about three to five times quicker than a regular outlet.
Data will be collected from the stations to help examine charging needs away from home and the impact of such charging stations.
