Owner of Wilm. restaurant plans to move after facing sign violation fines | Business

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The owner of a restaurant that's been in Wilmington for more than 60 years says he will be taking his business elsewhere.

Bob Church, who owns Flip's BBQ on Oleander Drive, says his company would have been fined $200 a day starting Monday if he didn't take down a sign that violated a city ordinance.

Church says he is moving the business, but isn't sure where the new location will be.

He says he wants to move closer to the beach.

Church has owned Flip's for the past 26 years.
