WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A former standout from UNCW has been added to the university's baseball staff for the 2012-13 season.
UNCW head baseball coach Mark Scalf announced Wednesday the addition of Robbie Monday.
"I'm eager to get started," Monday said in a press release. "The chance to return to UNCW and join a staff that has been very successful is exciting for me."
Monday returns to his alma mater after a season on the staff at Barton under the tutelage of another former Seahawk coach, Josh Simmons.
"I look forward to the challenges ahead as we look to win the CAA and return to the NCAA tournament," Monday said in regards to his new position.
Monday played for the Seahawks in 2009 and 2010, finishing his career as the program's all-time leader in slugging percentage (.620) and fourth with 32 career homeruns.
According to the university, Monday led the CAA in 2010 with 20 round trippers and earned second-team All-CAA honors. He was a third-team selection as a junior, his first season with the Seahawks.
