Deployed military father surprises kids with breakfast | Arts & Culture

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – It’s an understatement to say that not a single day goes by that the families of deployed military members miss their loved ones, and vice-versa.

But sadness was transformed into smiles and happy tears recently as one dad who was deployed in Afghanistan expressed his appreciation for his kids who missed him – by surprising them and showing up earlier from leave than expected at a local restaurant to serve them breakfast. To top it all off, the whole thing was recorded and posted to YouTube.

Candice Sandusky’s husband, Sgt. Sandusky starts out in the kitchen at Salt Works II, carrying plates with French toast and bacon. He sneaks up behind the table that his children are sitting at, kneels down next to them and asks, “Let’s see, who had the French toast?”

The children’s shocked reactions are heartwarming as they proceed to hug their father closely, complete with ear-to-ear grins.
