According to the sheriff's office the heroin had a total street value of about $5,500.

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Detectives with the Vice and Narcotics unit at the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office held a press conference Friday morning to reveal details of a large heroin bust.

According to the sheriff's office, detectives executed a search warrant of a home on Wilshire Boulevard Thursday that yielded a "substantial amount of heroin."

Authorities arrested Gregory Donell Miller from his home Thursday. Deputies found more than $10,000 on him at the time of arrest and took more than 2,200 bags of heroin from his home. According to the sheriff's office the heroin had a total street value of about $50,000.

Miller posted bond less than two hours of being arrested and will appear in court Friday. He is no stranger to officials and has been arrested before. Detectives say Miller has been on their radar for years.

According to the sheriff's office, this arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation. They say heroin is a problem in New Hanover County and are thankful to be taking 2,200 bags off the street.
