NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday in New Hanover County.
An excessive heat watch remains in effect from Saturday morning until Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
High humidity and hot air temperatures will make it feel like 105 to 109 degrees on Friday and between 110-119 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. The hottest temperatures will occur in the middle to late afternoon hours, the NWS said.
Temperatures can quickly exceed 150 degrees in a closed vehicle that’s exposed to direct sunlight, so don’t leave children or pets unattended.
Remember to drink fluids, wear light-colored clothing and take frequent breaks in a shaded or air conditioned area.
To keep track of the hot temperatures, check out WECT’s weather page. First Alert Meteorologists Colin Hackman, Robb Ellis and Eric Davis update it often.
