WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Two men were charged Saturday afternoon for a robbery in the Randall Parkway and Kerr Avenue area.

The victim told Wilmington Police Department officers that a red Mercury sedan cut him off while he was driving around 2:30 p.m. Two men reportedly got out of their vehicle and approached the victim’s vehicle.

One of the men claimed that the victim cut them off. During the conversation, the other suspect reached through the passenger-side window and grabbed the victim’s cell phone and wallet, according to WPD spokesperson Lucy Crockett.

The two robbers then jumped back into their car and fled. The victim, however, was able to get the tag number and a WPD officer spotted the vehicle a short time later at a Scotchman on Kerr Avenue.

Crockett said the driver, who was later identified as 30-year-old Antwyn Curtis Beatty, had tried to use one of the victim’s credit cards. Officers later found the other suspect, 31-year-old Corey Antoine Morrison, at a nearby apartment with the rest of the victim’s property.

Both men were placed under arrest and were released after posting bond.
